Author description

In 2005, Malorie Blackman received the Eleanor Farjeon Award for her contribution to the world of children's books, and in 2008, she was honoured with an OBE for services to Children's Literature. Her dystopian novel series Noughts and Crosses has won the Children's Book Award, and she has twice won the Young Telegraph/Gimme 5 Award (for Hacker and Thief!) - the only author to have done so. Marjorie Blackman writes across a range of subjects for children and teens, addressing diverse and sensitive issues including teenage fatherhood, alienation, cultural conflict, family relationships and friendship. She also writes for television. Malorie lives in South London.
